Sunday:
Today we spent time with my Grandma for Christmas. It was chaos with four dogs and eight humans but I loved it. We decided to keep it simple and had a pasta bar. We forgot to make the garlic bread and no one touched the salad. Like I said, chaos. we also had cheesecake and egg nog cheesecake for dessert. I took the leftover pie from our work potluck on Friday and was able to get those leftovers out of the fridge. My nephew was pretty excited about his gifts. Next year I need to do better about finding non-cash gifts to give. Overall it was a good day!
Monday:
Why are short holiday work weeks simultaneously the longest and shortest weeks of the year? Work flew by but I didn’t feel like I got a single thing done. I stopped by the library and grabbed a couple of books that I had on hold. I picked up some McDonald’s for lunch (I know; already a mistake). Somehow one of the snack wraps was undercooked and the cheeseburgers were charcoal briquettes.
Tuesday:
Hubby found out this morning that one of the YouTubers we watch on a regular basis, Adam the Woo, passed away Sunday night into Monday morning. I haven’t been able to stop thinking about out it. We spent a sad evening watching his many friends that have collaborated with him over the years pay tribute and discuss their grief. We didn’t know Adam personally but we watched all of his videos. It felt a little like losing a friend. He didn’t know us but we did know him.
Wednesday:
My firm is open normal operating hours on Christmas Eve so I worked a normal shift today. When I got home we had dinner. I watched Garfield’s Christmas special and A Muppet Christmas Carol. Christmas snuck up on me this year and I didn’t get to watch as many Christmas movies as I would have liked.
Thursday:
It’s Christmas Day here for those of us who celebrate. Hubby and I got up and exchanged gifts. We both did pretty well! He got the Modernist Cuisine at Home Cookbook. He’d never heard of it but really likes it. I got a two-tier hydroponic growing system. I’m excited! We got it built and I have seeds ordered and coming on Sunday!
Friday:
I took a PTO day today and it was a busy day! I took Harper to the vet this morning for her annual shots. Poor thing has to be muzzled because she tried to nip the vet last year. I don’t blame them one bit; better safe than sorry. We stopped by Scooter’s on the way home and she got a pup cup. Later I had to run back out and grab some things that we had forgotten in our grocery pick up order on Tuesday. I also had to stop back at the vet because I forgot to get the dogs’ city tags earlier. I made a cheesecake (which I ended up breaking: it was tragic), a chocolate peanut butter pie, and cherry fluff for our family Christmas on Saturday.
Saturday:
We dropped the dogs off at the boarder’s today they always have so much fun. We got there and they got in the lobby and beelined straight for the door to go play. We were completely forgotten. Honestly that’s best! We went home and got ready to head home. We stopped along the way to pick up lunch for my dad and immediate family at Long John’s Silvers. There are not many of them left. We got a good variety and everyone was happy! We headed to my aunt and uncle’s closer to dinner. It was a fabulous time and a good way to wind down our holidays! I love getting to spend time with my family.
