The Sunday Post #1

The Sunday Post is a weekly meme hosted by Kimberly at Caffeinated Reviewer. It’s a chance to share news; a post to recap the past week on your blog and showcase books and things we have received. Share news about what is coming up on our blog for the week ahead.

Tuesday:

Today was a hard day when I wasn’t too busy and could stop to think. A year ago today we said goodbye to my grandpa. While I was at work and busy I could throw myself into it. But when the work would stop flowing for a minute or two the grief would sneak in.

I had intended to work on my Strategic Management class tonight. Instead I had the chance to catch up with a family member on the phone and in light of the day it seemed the most fitting

thing. We talked about a lot of different topics. It was really nice. It’s starting to get cold here and I took the dogs out at 8:30 and regretted not grabbing my coat. We’re supposed to have a bonfire in a few weeks and I’m hoping we don’t freeze! I’m behind on some of my reading goals but that just means I get to spend some time downtime catching up on those goals. I’ve adored the goose neck floor stand and page turner combo for my Kindle. During these cold Midwest nights I’m going to enjoy keeping my hands nice and warm in my blankets!

I’m including a picture of my floofsters because I need to remember when I’m up at 2 am that they are indeed adorable and I love them to pieces.

Wednesday:

Time flies when you’re having fun….or so I’m told. I feel like there are just not enough hours in the day. Work definitely keeps me on my toes so my work week does fly by. I was assigned more responsibilities today and that made me feel good and also gave me more to do. I like the challenge have wearing many hats right now. We’re trying to wrap up our audits before tax season is here.

Tonight I finished the chapter I was meant to finish last night and reviewed a case study on Airbnb. The reading is a bit dry but that’s anticipated. On to more fun things! I forgot how intensive setting up a new blog design can be. I’m even keeping it simple! I like the way it’s coming along but there may be a few more tweaks along the way. Tonight’s update will be brief so I can get my TBR post up. I’m really enjoying my last few days of blogging and I hope that as long as I don’t take myself too seriously, the enjoyment will last.

Thursday to Saturday:

Daily updates sort of fell apart here. Thursday was the day that we decided to trim nails and since I had some calming bites from Sunday’s road trip I thought we could use them to make the process less traumatic for all. Those things are going in the garbage. In my defense the ingredients are all things that I know what they are and these are a pretty popular brand. I gave Harper a half dose as she hadn’t had one before and we wanted to make sure she would be okay. Quin did fine with them on Sunday so we gave him a normal dose. I was up the rest of the night every two hours for bathroom visits. By Friday morning both the dogs and I were exhausted. I tried to get them out of the kennel by opening my laundry basket. I couldn’t figure out why I couldn’t find the latch.

Friday passed in an exhausted blur. I had some things to process for work and took on a few more things today. I feel like I’ve gone from 0 to 60 but I know I’ll get it all under control. This was just the first few days and I needed to get the tasks caught up as the previous person would wait until the last minute to do so. On the weekends in October, my husband is working at a local haunted house so I’m single on weekend nights. Honestly I just spend that time reading or zoning out with a movie if I can’t concentrate on a book.

On Saturday I was supposed to be participating in a read-a-thon in my Discord group but I only got a few hours in before a migraine hit. I spent most of my day in and out of naps and reading when I could. Considering it all I did make a good dent in my current read which makes me happy. I also made chicken and noodles for dinner and I’m so glad we have hit crock pot/soup season. I wanted to try and wait up for my husband but I was out around 11 tonight. Tomorrow we have a very busy day so that may not be the worst case.

Headaches have unfortunately become a normal part of my life. My grandfather had the same issues. Mississippi Pot Roast is one of my favorites! I have enough leftovers to last me all week.

  1. Urg! Yes… pets and small children with stomach upsets are exhausting! I hope you were able to fully recover yesterday and that work isn’t too demanding today. Have a good week.

So exhausting and I couldn’t really be mad at them because I knew they weren’t feeling well. Poor babies. I hope your week is fantastic!
