The Maid by Nita Prose {Review}

[book-info]

The Maid by Nita Prose caught my eye one day when I was strolling the shelves in the library. It was a cover borrow and I have no regrets about it. Something about the simplistic cover and the maid dashing across the keyhole drew my attention. I ended up checking out a digital version and I don’t think I’ve ever gotten so lucky in picking up a random book.

I hurt so much for Molly. Prose did a superb job of capturing the loss that Molly experienced and the devastation that ended up having on her day to day life. Molly is incredibly intelligent and so many people assume otherwise because of her reactions in social situations. I really liked Molly; I could understand her issues with not understanding social cues and sometimes being too literal. The book never explicitly says it but I believe Molly probably falls on the autistic spectrum.

The mystery was also amazing!! I love when I can’t figure out who-dun-it. There were so many layers to the story and the secondary characters were a mixture of fun, devious, kind, and downright cruel people. They added so much to the story. I do want to add that I am so proud of Molly. This is why I love reading. I am so proud of a character who only exists between the covers of a book.

My jaw was on the floor when I finished this book and to be honest with you, I can’t wait to read it again!

  2. Great review you have of this one. I am happy that this one worked out so well for you there. I know many readers that loved it. Not sure if I would if it doesn’t have any romance but it definitely has great appeal for a good mystery.

    1. Thank you! It has a small romance, but I wouldn’t say that it is anywhere near the main focus. It is a very good mystery for sure!
