When Dimple Met Rishi by Sandhya Menon {Stephanie’s Review}

[book-info]

I pulled a TBR prompt to read a young adult contemporary. I’m trying to read more from my own TBR and between the TBR prompt and Summer of Love it seemed like a great time to pick up When Dimple Met Rishi by Sandhya Menon.

I wasn’t quite sure what to expect but I felt like I had heard a lot of great praise for Dimple when it first released. I had higher than normal expectations for When Dimple Met Rishi before I started reading. Honestly, I really enjoyed the story. I also liked that it was being told by both Dimple and Rishi.

The inclusion of Indian culture was particularly wonderful for me. I didn’t have a lot of exposure to different cultures growing up. It makes me appreciative to learn about different cultures.

The relationship between Dimple and her mother was something special to watch. I’m a sucker for relationships with family members where it is a prickly relationship but when it matters the relationship is solid.

I have to admit to being frustrated with Dimple during times in the book. While I can understand what she was thinking, I couldn’t agree with her. Dimple and Rishi’s relationship isn’t easy but it was fun to watch the ups and the downs. I liked Rishi and could identify with his personality more.

I really enjoyed When Dimple Met Rishi by Sandhya Menon and I’ll probably be continuing the series!

  1. I love when there is a good family relationship in the book (either siblings or between child and parent). Great review!

    1. I think that is a great idea! Sometimes when there are really high expectations it can hurt my reading experience. This was a great book and I enjoyed it but I didn’t love it the way I thought I should and that made me sad. I can’t wait to hear what you think!
