The Sunday Post

The Sunday Post is a weekly meme hosted by Kimberly at Caffeinated Reviewer. It’s a chance to share news; a post to recap the past week on your blog and showcase books and things we have received. Share news about what is coming up on our blog for the week ahead.

I’m sorry. I did what I always do anytime there is scary stuff happening. I ducked out. I pulled back from sharing myself. It felt safer. And honestly it still does. I’m going to give myself grace. I’ll be here when I can be mentally present.

My reading has also suffered tremendously. I’ve read four books so far. Two of them are BSC reads. I’m one book behind on my GoodReads challenge. I’ll make it up. I know I will. I spent yesterday working on my Productivity Planner and I am really excited to start utilizing it today! If it goes well I’ll share it later on in a post. I’m focusing on the positive right now and trying to not let the news dictate my life.

I was not present this week. I played a LOT of phone games and watched a lot of TV.

What I Read This Week

I’ve spent this week reading Persuasion and it has been tougher than I thought it would be. I LOVE Pride and Prejudice but I have really struggled getting into the headspace for Austen. The story is really good but it takes me a really long time to read even one chapter. Usually I spend about an hour and a half reading and get through 3 chapters which is roughly 45 pages.

Nada.

Also nothing. This has been one of the weirdest weeks!

How is your week shaping up? What exciting things are you reading?!

Oh well, this is a particular period we’re living, it’s only natural to want to cuddle up and forget the rest ! I did too this week – and did some cleaning, cooking and washing only because I had to. Enjoy TV and stay safe, I’ll be happy to read about your productivity planner when you’re ready πŸ™‚

Cleaning has become a bit of a solace for me. It makes me feel more in control. If my space is clean, I feel more centered. That has never been the case for me. Thank you so much! You do the same. We’ll make it through this difficult period. πŸ™‚

Ugh. I want to clean. I need to clean but I can’t manage that right now. I did more doomscrolling this week and it didn’t help much. Hopefully this week will be better. I DID manage lots of reading since I couldn’t do so many other things. Take it one day at a time and do your best. Stay well!

  3. Lover of Romance

I can definitely relate with struggling with reading Jane Austen, there is a certain headspace you need to have for her style of writing. So I feel you.

Hope you have a wonderful week darling.

I do have to be in the right mood for Austen and sometimes reading in general. I don’t know if you listen to audio books but they were life saving for me last year and there are some fantastic Austen narrations. I listened to Rosamunde Pike read Sense and Sensibility and it was amazing. Hope you have a better week.

Be gentle with yourself. I know that feeling of needing to pull back all too well. I am glad you are feeling inspired with your Productivity Planner! It sounds like a helpful tool to keep organized and on track. I have to be in the right head space to read someone like Austen. I love her books, but they can take time to get through. I hope you have a better week!

I don’t blame you for retreating. I lost myself on a fictional farm (Stardew Valley) from just before New Year up to this weekend. I didn’t read or do much of anything else beyond force myself to work/parent during the day. Sometimes, you’ve just got to do what looks after you. πŸ™‚

I hope you’ll share your productivity planner, I’m always eager to see new planners. I get the need to pull back, I think we all have it at times and these past months have afforded plenty of reasons to need a break! I’m glad we read Persuasion together, even if it was a rougher read than anticipated. I’m actually watching the movie right now and enjoying it. Watching the movie makes me appreciate how much I did like the book lol!

    have a great week!

I totally understand ducking out. Things are tough for so many and for so many different reasons. Hopefully your new productivity planner works well for you!
