I wanted to get my series caught up and this series only had one unread book, The 20th Victim by Maxine Paetro & James Patterson. I’ve stuck out the series this long and I’m starting to enjoy them again.
As always the short action packed chapters kept The 20th Victim moving. I really liked the plot of the story and thought I had it all figured out. I was wrong and that actually made me really happy! Each main character had their own plot line but all the ends were weaved together by the end of the book. I don’t have any real complaints about the plot. I do have to admit that I’m not positive on the significance of the title. I feel like I missed something there.
There were two new characters introduced in The 20th Victim. Well two new main characters. An old friend of Joe’s, Dave, and a new reporter working with Cindy, Jeb. I didn’t really like either them. I disliked Jeb but was pretty ambivalent on Dave.
The rest of the crew is present and no one character seemed to get more page time than any other. I worried for Claire as did The Women’s Murder Club. I also really thought Cindy being angry with Lindsey for so long was ridiculous. Both women have their jobs and sometimes those jobs are going to overlap each other and be beneficial. And sometimes having the press run with something means that the perpetrator gets away with their crimes due to technicalities or goes underground and is never caught. Cindy should have understood this.
I took a star off my rating because I feel like two plot points weren’t really seen through
Did Jeb sell the scoop? Was the Huston cop taken out for drugs or blackmail or simply because he was a cop?
Still The 20th Victim by Maxine Paetro & James Patterson was a good fast read and I’m glad I had the chance to get the series caught up.
