The Sunday Post is a weekly meme hosted by Kimberly at Caffeinated Reviewer. It’s a chance to share news; a post to recap the past week on your blog and showcase books and things we have received. Share news about what is coming up on our blog for the week ahead.
Over the weekend last weekend I got wrapped up in some cross stitch projects. I haven’t touched my floss stash in 2 years and I was mid-transition of a new way of organizing it when we moved. I worked on that over the weekend and continued working on that today. Work was slow as I needed something to be done before I could move forward on any of my work. I ended up working on stuff that would be done after the project I’m waiting on.
I still haven’t read much this week. I think I may have burned out just a little but I have goals. I’ll need to focus on getting some reading done today. Today was pretty non-eventful.
Early today I finished Dev1at3. I enjoyed it but I didn’t really find the plot twist to be that surprising. In Lifel1k3 I was shocked to my core at the plot twist and didn’t see it coming. I was expecting the same sort of thing in the second book but it was pretty obvious to me. It was still a 4 star read but not as good as the first book in my opinion. I also finished The Family Tree. This book ended up being very dry. Either way I ended up finishing two books today and that was a little liberating.
I’m sure I am not alone in this but today was hard. It was DH’s birthday today and that made it easier to say we weren’t going to go anywhere. We had a traditional Thanksgiving meal but on a smaller scale. It is not my husband’s favorite meal so we compromised. Thanksgiving meal on Thursday and a birthday meal this weekend. I started the second book for book club this month: Killman Creek by Rachel Caine. I’m not far in but I’m enjoying it.
Holy batman! I couldn’t put down Killman Creek today! I read about 60% of it. I listened to some of it while I did some personal finances and some blogging this morning. My phone died so I didn’t get to listen to too much of it. I picked it back up at bedtime which was a mistake. I was up until 2 am and made it to about 90% before I had to put it aside. I can’t wait to finish it tomorrow! We got out the Christmas tree tonight and got it set up and the lights and star on it. We also got the tree skirt under it.
Today was very low key for me. I didn’t get as much blogging done yesterday as I wanted to. I worked on ironing out a blogging schedule. I wanted to re-introduce Foodie Fridays. I currently have reviews posted on Fridays so I had to move those to Wednesdays. I decided I would move my weekly wrap up post back to Sundays and here we are! I got my 2021 schedule ironed out in general. I’ll now be able to draft posts in advance when I have a little extra time. We did a grocery pick up (no issues this week!) when DH got off work. We made Million Dollar Spaghetti to celebrate DH’s birthday. I finished Killman Creek. Wow. That was an awesome read!! I’m so grateful for COYER book club this year.
I also finished decorating our tree tonight. We watched Home Alone after I finished. This movie always makes me cry. There is just something about lonely old men that gut me. (I’m not sure I’ll ever emotionally recover from the opening scenes of Up!.) The church scene is what gets me in Home Alone. I know this and I’m prepared for it. Tonight the tears started flowing before that. There’s a scene where Kevin is staring into the windows of a house filled with family and I lost it. Clearly Thursday was harder than I’m willing to admit to.
I’m writing this post on a Saturday and scheduling this post to go live tomorrow (Sunday). Tomorrow I plan on getting some blogging in and doing some reading too. I haven’t 100% settled on what I’m going to read just yet but I’ll be able to figure that out pretty quickly as I have a December TBR to curate. I want to make sure that I have all of the upcoming week’s posts scheduled by tomorrow night. I also have COYER book club in the afternoon and I can’t wait!! I read both books this month! I also need to make some beef jerky today too.

I found this on Twitter. I really only use Twitter to follow other bookish peeps so someone bookish either liked this or shared it. It was hilarious and depressing all at the same time. I don’t think I left the house at all last weekend.
I didn’t do a very good job of keeping track of what I read each day this week. I’ll have this section back next week!
How is your week shaping up? What exciting things are you reading?!
