COYER Book Club

I wanted to share with you today something I’ve really been enjoying for the last few months! The ladies over at COYER are at it again. Not only is COYER now going to be a year long challenge but they’ve launched a few different aspects to it as well.

Read-a-thons have always been a part of COYER and those will still continue. Buddy reading started with one of the more recent COYER challenges and that is now a continuing feature for COYER. I’m really pleased to say that I’ve been able to do at least one buddy read per month since COYER started up again.

The thing that I am most excited for though is book club. I’ve been trying for a long time now to find a book club that I could participate in regularly. A lot of times the issue with book clubs is *me*. I don’t typically do well with reading on a timeline.

That’s the beauty of the COYER Book Club. The first month we read one book and we really enjoyed the whole process.

April’s pick was Parental Guidance by Avery Flynn

Then during the second month we read FOUR different books. All of the books were different genres: Suspense/Thriller, Contemporary Romance, Young Adult, and Fantasy/Sci-Fi.

I shocked myself by reading three of the four. I found that when I knew I was going to be discussing the book at the end of the month with women who’s company I enjoyed, I would make time to read those books. We “meet” online via a conferencing connection (1st month was Zoom, 2nd month was Facebook Rooms) on the last Sunday afternoon of the month.

The best part about the COYER Book Club is that so far (after all we’re only in the third month) everything is voted on by the readers. We vote for genre, then gather book recs, and then vote on the book that we’ll be reading. I have to say for only being in the third month we’re quickly streamlining the whole process.

If you think this might be something you’re interested in you should join the private Facebook group and give it a go! You’ll need to answer the questions to be admitted to the group.

I haven’t been successful at this even when books are chosen I would like. I’m just too booked right now. Hopefully that will change and I can fit in some of these reads soon.

This month I only managed to do half of them but I think I’ll try to get in at least one book in each month. I do enjoy the chats!
