It has been a long time since a book has made me this happy! I knew from reading The Last Time We Say Goodbye that I was going to be in for an emotional punch. The How & the Why by Cynthia Hand was everything I had hope for and then some.

Hand’s writing pulled me in from the beginning. It flows so easily and I have a hard time putting her books down. This is only my second book by Hand but I have come to trust her with heavy subjects. Hand did an amazing job with The How & the Why. Cassandra and her family are relatable. There are a lot of ups and downs and the story turns on a dime multiple times.

I can’t go into a lot of detail about the story. I truly believe that going into this book blind is best. What I can say is that I was never really sure how things would end up. I was with Cass on her up and down journey. I made noises that my husband could hear from our living room (I was in our bedroom!). I really, really loved The How & the Why by Cynthia Hand.
