Head of the class...
Garrett Daniels has this whole life thing figured out.
The cocky, charismatic former high school star quarterback is an idolized football coach and "cool" teacher in the hometown where he's not just a golden boy—he's platinum. He has good friends, a great house on the lake, and the best damn sidekick a man could ask for: Snoopy, the albino beagle.
Then...Callie Carpenter comes home.
And knocks him right on his tight end zone.
Back to school...
Callie has a pretty sweet life herself...on the other side of the country. But circumstances—that she'd prefer to never speak of again—have brought her back home, helping out her parents and substitute teaching at her old high school.
Now she's facing bickering, raging hormones, constant gossip, awkward weirdness, and drama galore...and that's just the teachers.
Just like old times...
When Garrett offers to show his former high school sweetheart the secrets of his winning teacher ways, Callie jumps at the chance—and then has to stop herself from jumping him.
Good friends are all they can ever be.
Or...these teachers just might end up getting schooled—hard—by love.
I really wanted to break up my reading of so many YA fantasy books so I decided to dive right into this New Adult romance on audio because it is read by one of my favorite narrators, Zachary Webber.
This one starts off really cute right away with a girl, Callie, coming home to help take care of her parents. Of course now that she is back in her hometown she can’t help but run into her high school sweetheart, Garrett. I loved each of their individual stories. Callie just wants to come home for a limited time and then get back to her life in California but she isn’t a snob about it. Most of the time in situations like this the character never wants to be home because of bad memories. Callie doesn’t have any real fear about being home she just wants to take care of her parents.
Garrett is really the star in this book. He is the high school football coach and loved by all in his small town. He isn’t afraid to tell you just what he is feeling and just how he messes things up in life. He gives great advice to his students and runs a great football program. He is honest, real and it doesn’t hurt that they is still good looking.
When these two get together there is this slow burn that I just love. They come back together a little fast but they work through issues from the past with time and love. You can tell these two never really wanted to break up when Callie when away for college. You can just feel this sweet love blossom again and I enjoyed every second of it.
Overall, this book made me laugh, cry and swoon. I loved the characters, I loved the honesty, I loved the romance, the sexy times, and the hard times. This is one of the most real feeling romance love stories I have read in a long time. It is not trying too hard and it gets everything just right. So do yourself a favor and go pick this one up.
I loved the narrators for this one. Webber is a personal favorite and I just love his voice. It also makes it feel more real and honest because you have a male and female narrator telling the story to you. You feel like you are listening to these people talk about how they met. It was special.
