Love is a circus

"Every day,” he says lowly, “I hold a person’s life in my hands. The circus is based one-hundred percent off trust. I give it all to someone, and they give it all to me.”

The best aerial technique won’t land 21-year-old Thora James her dream role in Amour—a sexy new acrobatic show on the Vegas strip. Thora knows she’s out of her element the second she meets Amour’s leading performer. Confident, charming and devilishly captivating, 26-year-old Nikolai Kotova lives up to his nickname as the “God of Russia.”

When Thora unknowingly walks into the crosshairs of Nikolai’s after-show, her audition process begins way too soon. Unprofessional. That’s what Nik calls their “non-existent” relationship. It’s not like Thora can avoid him. For one, they may be partners in the future—acrobatic partners, that is. But getting closer to Nik means diving deeper into sin city and into his dizzying world.

Thora wants to perform with him, but when someone like Nikolai attracts the spotlight wherever he goes—Thora fears that she’s destined to be just background to his spellbinding show.

This sexy and exhilarating New Adult Romance can best be described as Cirque du Soleil meets the steamy, athletic romance of Center Stage.

5 Stars

I have found a new love for New Adult books in the past year and I’m glad I finally picked this one up after it had been sitting on my Kindle for a few years.

I have to say it was hard not to fall in love with this one from the very beginning. I was drawn in from the start when we meet Thora and we find out how she is going to take a huge leap of faith and go try out for an act in an aerial circus. I was so scared for her because I am always the person who did what she should. I was in college and I wasn’t going to quit until I had what I wanted which was a degree in a field I could get a good job in. I admire Thora for loving her craft so much that she wanted to take a break from college to go see if she had what it takes to make it in a Vegas circus show.

If Thora didn’t do it for you in the beginning trust me you will be drooling once you get to meet the God of Russia, Nikolai. *Someone give me a fan* The first time you see Nik on the pages of the book he just steals your breath. He sweeps you away in this dark and mysterious personality and you are dying to see more of him after he barely interacts with Thora. He slowly opens up as the book moves on and every piece of his past was one I wanted to know more about. I also just love his presence in this book. His character never had to tell you anything, he simply showed you who he really was.

I just loved watching these two together on the page. Thora is an inspiration to seek out your dreams and give them your all. Nikolai is dark and mysterious without trying and he is also very loving of his dysfunctional family. He is the leader in all things and I loved watching him on the page every moment. I liked how these two came together and I also really enjoyed the secondary cast of characters. Between the romance, the breathtaking aerial circus scenes that you can picture, the characters, the hopes and dreams, and the family identity crisis in this book you will just fall in love. Everything about this novel was just effortless. There was never a time where the book struggled to move forward or keep your attention. Good read this one if you haven’t. I’m off to read everything by Krista and Becca Ritchie now.
