“I'm done hurting her. She's been hurt enough. It's time I set her free...”
Once upon a time, I wished to go home and forget.
Now, I’m strong and ready to fight.
Seduced and claimed, Elder no longer just demands my voice, he commands me to be a thief like him.
But he offers me things I shouldn’t want, favours I should run from.
In return for his protection, I’m ordered to steal enough pennies and dollars to buy back my freedom.
Only, we both aren’t prepared for how he changes me, evolves me.
And now it’s my turn to learn about him...
I am posting the information and cover from book #3, Hundreds but this review will be for the last three books of the series, Hundreds, Thousands and Millions. I read the last three books back to back to back so it is hard for me to separate them in my head so you get a joint review.
After the second book destroyed me I just needed more. I had to know what was going to happen to Elder and Pim.
The series continues on from the cliffhanger of the second book and I feel that the third book is my second favorite in the series after the second book. I loved how the third book really allowed Pim to finally find herself. At the same time that Pim finally finds herself we also see some of the weaknesses of Elder and just what he fears, what he runs from. I loved how both of these characters are flawed and I loved seeing their emotions and struggles. I love how individually they both need to find ways to overcome their fears and how together they push each other to be stronger. I do have to say that there are still plenty of times that their relationship is really unhealthy. They push each other too far at certain times and that is so easy to see at the end of the third book to the beginning of the fourth.
I feel like the fourth and fifth book do calm down on the overload of dark emotions. I feel that the story starts to become more about how Elder needs to stop certain people from killing his family and all that he has worked for. I do like his overprotective side during this part of the series. I liked the overall story arc in the end and where they went with every aspect, even the little ones like Pim’s mom. I also really loved how Pim was ripped away from him and that we got to see other people in the last book of the series. I am really excited to read more of Winter’s books now so I can go back to see how these other couples ended up together.
Overall, I loved the whole series as a whole. It is unlike any that I have read before because the emotions are darker and more rich. I loved the struggles and all the times the series was so hard to read because of the damage done to these two and how their emotions just ruin your heart. I am a character driven reader and I have to say with the characters and emotions and darkness bleeding in this one I loved it all. The second and third book will always be my favorite. I have to go read other books by this author now.
