Sunday Post

The Sunday Post is a weekly meme hosted by Caffeinated Book Reviewer. It’s a chance to share news: a post to recap the past week on your blog, showcase books and things we have received. Share news about what is coming up on our blog for the week ahead. Borrowed from Kimba @ Caffeinated Book Reviewer.

This week felt like the longest week ever. Maybe because there was a three day weekend at the end of it? Who knows. Last Sunday I picked up a new iPad Mini for myself! I was debating getting a Kindle Oasis ($289) but found that Best Buy had their iPads for $100 off making the newest iPad Mini ($299). I already have a Kindle Voyage so it made sense to pick up a newer iPad instead. I use GoodReader for my cross-stitch patterns as well. I am a happy girl! I love reading on it and if I want distraction free reading I just turn on airplane mode.

As yesterday was the 1st I started a new project with money and books. We shall see how it goes. I am hopeful but I usually am. This time I feel like I’ve set myself up better for success. *Fingers crossed*

Here’s what we’ve been up to on the blog this week:

Previously on Once Upon a Chapter:

Shattered by Allison Brennan

I couldn’t not pick up Allison Brennan’s newest release! I have really enjoyed her Max Revere series. It has made me want to go back and read her previous series that I stopped reading for unknown reasons!

Shattered by Allison Brennan I’m currently 36% through Shattered. I’m really enjoying it! I can’t wait to see it all come together.

The Summer That Made Us by Robyn Carr I’m on a schedule to review The Summer That Made Us by Robyn Carr. I’ve had good experiences with books about family healing and with Robyn Carr’s novels. I am hoping this one doesn’t disappoint!

So far I am! There isn’t much different between my 2nd generation and this one technically but it’s lighter and that makes ALL the difference. That and I think my old screen was getting ready to go.

I’m really enjoying Shattered so far and I hope to finish it up in the next few days. πŸ™‚

I love my iPad except for the glare!! I cannot read on it for anything because no matter what, its like having a bad mirror. But, all the students in my school have one, so we use them all the time (we are a 1:1 iPad school; the kids get one as part of their tuition). So, I read on my kindle. I have been eyeing the Oasis but its so pricey!

Yes the glare can be brutal! It is what had me going back and forth for a little bit. BUT I just couldn’t get to that point with the Oasis when I have a Voyage (that truly I do love). That is awesome! In my area the schools use Chromebooks and they are not even close to a good comparison. FOr me iPads just offer so much more security and versatility.

The outdoors and I have an unspoken agreement: I don’t go out into it and it doesn’t f$*k with me. There are proven consequences in the past where I have violated that agreement. Lol. But when I dare to get involved outdoors I have my Voyage handy. πŸ™‚
