The Perfect Recipe for Love and Friendship by Shirley Jump *Stephanie’s Review*

[book-info]

I picked up The Perfect Recipe for Love and Friendship by Shirley Jump because I had read reviews of her other books and the reviewers said that they had enjoyed her humor. You all know I am a sucker for any book that can make me laugh and cry!

I picked up The Perfect Recipe for Love and Friendship during a mini-reading slump. I think it was the third book I had picked up and I had finally landed on something that held my attention. The book opens just after Bridget’s husband’s funeral. What followed was a beautiful story of family and all the good and bad that they bring to the table. I adored it. I laughed and cried.

Shirley Jump makes it so easy to empathize with the O’Bannon women. Each character added to the story and made it that much more special. The O’Bannon family had scattered and watching them come back together was great! It’s the nature of families to cause each other a whole range of emotions including the bad ones. I loved watching four sisters and their mother work through them.

I will say that I had one of the reveals pretty much nailed from the beginning. My biggest gripe was that I felt that a major plot point had been built up just to be ignored and I was panicking due to the small amount of pages left. I was ready to throw the book….then I saw the sneak peak at the end and all was well! Seriously I can’t wait for the next book! I already have it on pre-order and it doesn’t release until March 2018!
