This discussion post came to me when I was updating my blog roll. I had to remove 25% (admittedly that’s only 5) of my blog roll links due to inactivity. This made me inexplicably sad and I thought it worthy of a discussion post.
I remember when I started blogging in 2010 there were SO many blogs. Even then a large amount of them were specifically geared towards young adult books but there were still enough of a variety of other book blogs that it felt like a vast community. I felt like such a small fish. I was for several years.
I know there are still a ton of book blogs but I feel like the community that Once Upon a Chapter “grew up in” is disappearing in bits and pieces. A lot of my Twitter friends are former book bloggers. I miss their blogs and their enthusiasm. They still read but it isn’t such a big part of their life anymore and Twitter or GoodReads satisfies their needs. To former #bookbloggers Your voice is missed. Click To Tweet
This post is by no means meant to guilt former book bloggers or to ignore the new ones that have sprung in their place. Everyone has their reasons for no longer blogging. I almost threw in the towel myself multiple times. It was more to say “Your voice is missed.” Even if it is too little, too late.
