Do You Want to Start a Scandal by Tessa Dare *Stephanie’s Review*

[book-info]

I really needed a good historical romance to avoid a book burnout. Do You Want to Start a Scandal by Tessa Dare was an obvious choice. Dare’s books are almost always a hit with me. Tessa Dare can make me laugh and bring me tears and at the end of the story leave me with a sigh of satisfaction.

I’ll admit that the whole story seemed a bit over the top but that is exactly why I read historical romance. You kind of have to roll with things a little bit even when things seem a bit unrealistic. Do You Want to Start a Scandal was paced well and always kept my attention. I enjoyed the mystery added to the romance. It kept things moving along and always made me want to read a little bit more. The mystery never distracted from the romance but rather added to it.

I loved Piers and Charlotte!! Even as misguided as her actions might have been she was always putting others before herself. I understand where Piers actions came from but I was a little less quick to forgive him. I think that only added to his charm if I’m being honest. Little Edmund added quite a bit of humor to the story. Charlotte’s sisters made me want to dive into the Spindle Cove series. I really enjoyed them and wanted to spend more time with them. As far as Charlotte’s mother……I’ll never look at eggplants and peaches the same way!

Do You Want to Start a Scandal was a great read and I need to get to more Tessa Dare in my life. I knew it was going to be a good read going in and she didn’t disappoint!

  3. Ahhh she’s one I really need to try. I love historicals but for some reason have never tried hers. Sounds fun 🙂

    1. You should! After watching her YouTube video doing her own marketing for her book I was sold. I read her book and never looked back.

  4. That is why I don’t like historicals, I don’t like the over top part of the genre, and they always feel unrealistic.

    1. They certainly can be. Dare’s historicals are humorous so sometimes the over the top part comes from that. In all fairness though, I’m sure historical England got up to shenanigans; they just didn’t make it into the history books.
