Sunday Post

The Sunday Post is a weekly meme hosted by Caffeinated Book Reviewer. It’s a chance to share news: a post to recap the past week on your blog, showcase books and things we have received. Share news about what is coming up on our blog for the week ahead. Borrowed from Kimba @ Caffeinated Book Reviewer.

This weekend started out rather exciting! On Friday morning I was in a zero gravity chair….and stretched just a bit too far. But I also happened to be right near the edge of a deck. I managed to do a back flip off the edge of the deck. I saved my cell phone and managed not to hit the brand new car parked just a foot away. Scraped the hell out of my back, arm, and knee. I could laugh about it Friday but oh was I sore! I spent the rest of the weekend relaxing and reading.

June is going to be a pretty busy month. We are going to Chicago at the end of the month to attend ALA! This will be my third ALA (but second annual ALA). Plus Lex and I will be reunited for a few days!! I am super excited! I’ve started a small list of priority books. This year my goal is to talk with more of the publishing staff and only pick up books that are on my list. I say this now but when you get near that many books it gets awfully hard to resist!

Here’s what we’ve been up to on the blog this week:

Previously on Once Upon a Chapter:

I picked up a ton of freebies this week:

One Week to the Wedding by Olivia Miles This week has been a hard reading week and I haven’t read nearly as much as I wanted to. I’m about a third of the way through this and I’m really enjoying. Can’t wait for things to start happening! πŸ™‚

Serenity Harbor by RaeAnne ThayneStill holding out on at least getting this one started. It appears it is going to be a contemporary week for me.

What are you reading this week?

I have never done ALA. Not even sure If I know what it is. *googles ALA*
Oh I see now, can anyone do the conference or only librarians? I want to be a librarian so bad, I wish that was on option or at least I knew it was an option in school. I don’t know why I didn’t think it was an option lol.

Good Luck resisting, it’s very hard. πŸ˜‰

Have a great week, Stephanie! Happy Reading! ox

Yep! They have a thing called an “Exhibit Floor Pass” for $75.00 that allows you access to the exhibit floor where all the publishers and other vendors have their booths. They also have a midwinter conference. Each year it’s in a different part of the country. I wanted to be a librarian so bad too but there’s the bachelor’s degree and then two more years for library science. That was never in the cards for me. πŸ™

It’s very hard when you have very excited publishers!

I’m hoping so! ALA is always a good time. πŸ™‚ I’m hoping to connect with a more bloggers this year. I’m hoping to stick to my goals. I’d like to send home only two boxes not four.

I’m planning on it! It was very much a sight to see. Lol. I don’t think I’ve ever done a back flip before but I have now! Definitely less sore than anticipated but i have a wicked bruise.

It does seem like they stick to the bigger cities. We live about 4 hours away from Chicago so we can just hop on the train. Hopefully they’ll be near a bigger city near you soon! I think they have through 2018 (maybe 2019?) scheduled out to where they’ll be for both Annual and MidWinter sessions.

ALA sounds like a lot of fun. Even though I’m not a librarian it seems like it would be an interesting conference to attend. And yikes about the fall- glad it wasn’t too serious. Good job saving the cell phone. πŸ™‚

    Have a great week!

It is SO much fun! I don’t actually attend the conference part though. We just are on the Exhibit Floor. It would be like BookCon of Book Expo America I imagine. I’ve never been but can’t say it would solidly be the same. Me too! All I can remember thinking is “This is gonna hurt!” mid flip. Lol! Thankfully not too bad. As dumb as it sounds to say I’m just glad it was only me that was hurt just a bit and I didn’t manage to take anything else out with me!

    • Stephanie

Right? My arm looks like someone dropped a bottle of ink on it but it doesn’t hurt. For the most part it’s just a really funny story to tell now! I’m pretty excited. Just about a week and a half before we leave!

THAT IS THE BEST NEWS I GOT ALL DAY!! I am definitely going to be sure to stop by and see you. πŸ™‚

It was funny about 30 minutes after it happened and could have been so much worse. πŸ™‚ Hopefully the bruise clears up soon. I think I know now that I wouldn’t like a tattoo on my bicep. πŸ˜‰
