Lately, life has been unnaturally calm for vampires Cat Crawfield and her husband Bones. They should have known better than to relax their guard, because a shocking revelation sends them back into action to stop an all-out war…
A rogue CIA agent is involved in horrifying secret activities that threaten to raise tensions between humans and the undead to dangerous heights. Now Cat and Bones are in a race against time to save their friends from a fate worse than death… because the more secrets they unravel, the deadlier the consequences. And if they fail, their lives—and those of everyone they hold dear — will be hovering on the edge of the grave.
I managed to finally make it to the last book after owning this series for a long time. I am so happy that I was able to make time for Cat and Bones this year and I’m mostly happy with the way everything turned out.
In this novel we really get to see Cat and Bones shine in my opinion. We have seen both of them have to grow into their relationship and I loved that the author didn’t always make their journey or relationship easy because that isn’t what love is about. I think in this final book we understand both of them better than ever before. We know just what they are willing to do to stay together and this book makes them stronger than they ever were as a couple. I also loved that we were able to see Bones full powers in this book and understand just how much he has grown as a Master vampire and what his line is capable of. I also loved that Cat was able to have some kick ass scenes in this novel where she relied on her own inner strength and training to get out of situations.
I enjoyed most of this novel but I did feel that one part of the novel was a little easy. It felt a little like how Breaking Dawn was for Bella and Edward. It was only really there to provide a stepping stone for Cat and Bones and their picture perfect happily ever after.
Ultimately I do love this series as a whole and Cat and Bones will forever hold a special place in my paranormal romance/urban fantasy collection. If you haven’t decided on reading this series yet I urge you to allow these two in your reading life because this series allows for action, romance, and paranormal aspects that any reader can find something they will connect with in this series. Plus Bones does some wicked things if you know what I mean.
