[book-info]

I was a little cautious when I picked up The Grownup by Gillian Flynn. After I finished Gone Girl, I was a bit of a wreck. I wouldn’t say emotionally wrecked but I definitely didn’t know what to think. I was wondering around Books-a-Million and this hard bound novella was featured.

I read the first page standing in BAM and knew I was going to read this. We have an unnamed narrator talking about her profession of hand job giver extraordinaire. Until she meets Susan who has a troubled son.

In the course of 64 pages we are taken on quite the adventure with manipulation, a murderous past, a haunted house, and more manipulation. By the end of it I felt unsatisfied. It was a good ending but it was too open for me.
