You guys! Seriously; you guys!! I have put off continuing the Outlander series because I had it in my head that Jaime and Claire weren’t focus points in the following books. When I found out I was wrong, I had to pick up Dragonfly in Amber by Diana Gabaldon.

Gabaldon certainly knows how to write a page turner. I was hooked again and much in the same way as Outlander. It took me another 200 pages or so to really get into the meat of the story. I have to say I spent those 200 pages very confused.

Dragonfly in Amber opens in the early ’60s and Claire is a few decades older. We begin to piece together what happened to Claire when she came back through the stones. We also learn along with Claire the fate of those she left behind. There is also some interesting information about little Roger Wakefield.

It is amazing how much happened in the small amount of time between the end of Outlander and when we know Claire came back. There was so much between Jaime and Claire. Major events tore them apart and then others brought them back together.

Strangely enough I didn’t think Frank Randall would play a prominent part. I was shocked to find him in this story as well. My mom and I text quite a lot when I’m reading a book from Gabaldon. This time was no different. It also proves that I was correct in guessing a major plot point where the Randall lineage is concerned.

In the end, Dragonfly in Amber was just as unputdownable (trust that is a real word) as Outlander and I can’t wait to continue with the series!
