Sunday Post

The Sunday Post is a weekly meme hosted by Caffeinated Book Reviewer. It’s a chance to share news: a post to recap the past week on your blog, showcase books and things we have received. Share news about what is coming up on our blog for the week ahead. Borrowed from Kimba @ Caffeinated Book Reviewer.

This week went by quickly. It seems that at work I am constantly running. Each night this week has brought something to do and I’ve had very little reading time. I’ve also been reading a physical book and that ALWAYS slows me down drastically. I’m really not sure why. I swapped over to my ereader last night so that improved things greatly.

I finished watching “Making of a Murderer” yesterday as well. I had decided to stop watching at episode 7 because it was just too damn depressing. Then my mom started watching it and I thought if I started her on it I had better finish it myself. I already knew the verdict because I didn’t consider it “spoilers” to find out what happened to these two before I finished watching the show. I know that the documentary was sided. I know that Steven Avery isn’t an angel. It still makes me sad because when you strip away all of the opinion and you’re left with the facts (and I’ve gathered them from more than MoaM) there still wasn’t enough to convict on. But that is not what you’re here for. πŸ™‚ Moving on.

It snowed here yesterday and the temperature dropped quite a lot. It was 40 degrees on Friday and now we’re at 21 degrees. It’s been a lovely cozy reading weekend. I am not looking forward to trekking out to work this week. We did some more planning for our trip this spring and that felt good to get some things settled. What have you been up to this week?

Previously on Once Upon a Chapter:

How to Rescue a Rake by Jayne Fresina

The Runaway King by Jennifer A. Nielsenhread Reckoning by Amanda Lee

I didn’t read nearly so much as I wanted to this week. I did get a lot of blogging and socializing in. It has felt good so I can’t be upset about it. I’m hoping to get a good amount of reading in today before my nephew’s third birthday party. If I finish The Runaway King then I will dive into Thread Reckoning. Both are books that I am looking forward to!

What are you reading this week?

I have a feeling that is going to be my week this week. I’m working overtime and it just takes it out of me. By the way, I started Black Eyed Susans and I HATE having to put it down. πŸ™ It is such a good story so far. Thanks for sharing it!!

I watched Making a Murderer after you mentioned it last week. I watched all 10 hours in ONE sitting. It was pretty crazy. I mean, I already knew there are plenty of innocent people sitting in prison, it was still interesting to watch that case. By the end of it, I still don’t know what I think. There was some pretty damning evidence against him, but at the same time there was evidence against the investigators.

I know a lot of people who did that! The look on his face when they read the verdict broke my heart a little bit. Unless he is one helluva actor, he didn’t do it. My thoughts are he COULD have done it but the investigators WANTED him to have done it so they made sure to do what they needed to to get a conviction. They didn’t even attempt to look at anyone else. All of this is beside the point because it is the prosecutions job to prove beyond a reasonable doubt that he killed her. They didn’t come close. There were too many questions that created doubt.

The whole thing makes me sad and sick. πŸ™ BUT it’s good to know these things are happening.
