Days of Blood and Starlight by Laini Taylor *Stephanie’s Review*

[book-info]

I had such a hard time reading Days of Blood and Starlight by Laini Taylor. After the ending of Daughter of Smoke and Bone. I was hesitant to continue with the series. I wasn’t sure if I could handle it and I was almost right.

There is so much grief in this book that it almost broke me. Karou has lost so much. Akiva has lost so much. Zuzanna misses her friend and hopes she’s okay. Do you catch the pattern here? Truly this book was a dark one. We learn more of what happened after Akiva’s bomb in the first book.

Karou spends her time amongst people who grudgingly trust her but just enough to resurrect them. I had forgotten about the tithing. We also learn a lot more about the angels and their day to day lives and duties. It was eye opening on both sides.

I gave this book five stars because even though it made me incredible sad, I couldn’t stop thinking about it. In the end it made me hopeful and I’m curious to see where this is headed. I’m also kind of really excited about it. And maybe a little anxious too.

  1. I haven’t listened to this yet. I really did like the first one and the narration is AMAZEBALLS. However I just never got around to book 2-I kind of suck.

    1. The endings are such cliffhangers that I couldn’t put this series off for long. The narration on the audio is wonderful! I’m sad that I’ve finished them now but I will read her future works for sure.
