When a Scot Ties the Knot by Tessa Dare *Stephanie’s Review*

I was really looking forward to When a Scot Ties the Knot by Tessa Dare. Unfortunately I decided to start this at the beginning of a minor reading slump. I really enjoyed this book but not as much as I’ve enjoyed her previous books. And that is all on me and my reading mood at the time.

I enjoyed Madeline but I didn’t love her. She was intelligent, quick witted, and kind but I missed the connect. I could see us as acquaintances but not as good friends and that’s what I love about a heroine.

Captain Logan MacKenzie is the kind of hero that I typically fall all over. He’s a hard man who’s all squish inside. He cares deeply for his men. He’s loyal and he’s still trying to work through his post. He; however, thinks he is passed it.

Grant was probably my favorite character and he is what truly sticks out for me. I felt so bad for him I gave this book a 4 star rating because even though it isn’t my favorite, the story was still pleasant and under normal circumstances would have rocked. I still look forward to my next Dare novel.

  1. Great thoughts on this one. Sorry to hear about your reading slump. They are just so horrid to have to deal with. I had issues with the heroine as well, and this one was my least favorite from Dare. Probably because the heroine was more contemporary than a historical. And I had a more difficult time with the romance too. But the hero and the secondary characters were fun.

    1. I really think Romancing the Duke was my favorite in this series. I wonder if because I loved that one so much the others just haven’t had a fair chance? I’ll still definitely read Dare’s future books it’s just that this one wasn’t my favorite. 🙂

  2. Yeah I totally loved Grant too. This was my first Tessa Dare read and I really enjoyed it, but you have me thinking I better read more if this wasn’t her best! Of course, I know how reading slumps can ruin the best books 😦 Sorry, hope it gets better!

    1. The reading slump is gone now! Romancing the Duke was the first in this loosely based series and it was SO good for me. I haven’t liked the two books after it as much. Grant was definitely a favorite. 🙂 Loved him!
