Alexa and I decided to buddy read Under the Never Sky by Veronica Rossi in September. We’d both had it in our TBR for awhile and it just felt like it was time to give it a go.
I’m not going to lie, it wasn’t easy making it through the first half. I just didn’t know Perry or Aria very well. They seemed like they were rather dry characters and I couldn’t get into them.
Something changed around the 50% mark though and I couldn’t put the book down. If I had to pinpoint one point, I think it was when the story became bigger than just Perry and Aria. All of a sudden there was so much more. More people, more goals, and more to focus on. It got a bit monotonous when it was just Perry and Aria out there on a journey.
Ross does an awesome job with her world. Under the Nevery Sky is set in a post-apocalyptic world. Earth is still Earth but with a much smaller population. It is also plagued by the Aether which creates, for lack of a better word, fire tornados.
I really ended up enjoying this book quite a lot. I only gave it 4 stars because it took a lot of time for me to become invested in the characters and plotline.
