Last summer I read my first Kristen Callihan novel, Evernight, out of series order, and I loved it. It took me almost a full year but I finally went back to the beginning and read Firelight by Kristen Callihan. Alexa and I decided to buddy read this book. I’m so glad that we did.
A fairy tale retelling can be a risky thing but Callihan takes the tale of Beauty and the Beast and totally makes it her own. I loved this book. First and foremost the heat between Miranda and Archer is a little breathtaking. There was such a slow build between them. I don’t always enjoy the slow build technique because it can be a lot of work for a little reward. Miranda and Archer are worth every bated breath.
If the couple wasn’t enough, Callihan’s version of London would be. There are things that go bump in the night. Someone is murdering men near Lord Archer and trying to frome him. There is so much going on in Firelight that the book was fast paced but you don’t miss anything along the way. Secrets from the past, paranormal beings, love, and hate all come together to make Firelight one helluva read!
