Stephanie’s October 2015 Budget

buget for 2015

At the beginning of July I decided to start a book budget. There is no shame in reasonable spending and I really need to develop this habit. In order to help keep myself in check, I’ll be doing monthly check ins.

One of these days, I’m going to learn to avoid those fill your kindle posts. I think in November, I’m going to have to force myself to start abiding by this budget. Because really if I’m not even going to try there is literally no point in doing this. I must start abiding by the rules that I set for myself.

My Rules:
  1. $25.00 in new books per month.
  2. Roll over any unspent money to the next month.
  3. Read what I want.
  4. Don’t buy it just because it’s on sale!
  5. Try to read 3 books from the TBR each month.
Savings Calculations:

I am an ereader with a big physical library. 90% of the time I will buy the ebook even if I’ve started the book in physical form. It’s far more convenient for me and I read faster. If I borrow an ebook from the library that I have a physical copy of at home, I’m still counting it towards my savings. It means that I didn’t spend the money on an ebook version and I knocked a book off my TBR!

Obviously any unowned borrowed books are going to be counted into my savings as well.

Thanks! I borrowed heavily from Felicia’s format. She’s been doing this for much longer than me. 🙂

I’m hoping that with November I’ll be more focused and not spend as much. I’m going to build this post as I go in November and I’m hoping that seeing a running total will keep me in check. 🙂
