At the beginning of July I decided to start a book budget. There is no shame in reasonable spending and I really need to develop this habit. In order to help keep myself in check, I’ll be doing monthly check ins. I missed doing August’s post so this is going to be two month’s worth. I know for a fact I went WAY over in August. I really have to stay away from those ebook “deals”.
- $25.00 in new books per month.
- Roll over any unspent money to the next month.
- Read what I want.
- Don’t buy it just because it’s on sale!
- Try to read 3 books from the TBR each month.
I am an ereader with a big physical library. 90% of the time I will buy the ebook even if I’ve started the book in physical form. It’s far more convenient for me and I read faster. If I borrow an ebook from the library that I have a physical copy of at home, I’m still counting it towards my savings. It means that I didn’t spend the money on an ebook version and I knocked a book off my TBR!
Obviously any unowned borrowed books are going to be counted into my savings as well.

Looks like you added some great books to your shelves!! It is so hard to stay away from those special “deals”.

They are SO hard to resist. Especially when I know where the price started out at! 🙂 I’m getting better though. I’m reading more physical books so that it’s easier to get books from my library. August was my bad month. It was so bad but September was a LOT better and I feel like I’m finally starting to take this seriously. 🙂
