I really, really loved Romancing the Duke by Tessa Dare. It’s the first in her Castles Ever After series. Say Yes to the Marquess by Tessa Dare had a lot to live up to. I was worried it wouldn’t make it. I shouldn’t have worried.
Clio Whitmore is the kind of historical heroine you want to read about. She’s basically been given the shaft and she’s decided that she’s going to start living her life for Clio. I loved how she used what she had been trained and groomed for and used it to her advantage.
Rafe is the type of hero that’s going to appeal to a lot of readers. He’s strong and doesn’t hold himself back just because London Society says he shouldn’t enjoy the things that he does. Rafe is also very loyal and wants to please the people he loves but also won’t do that by compromising himself.
To be honest Rafe is just a little bit responsible for that half castle. He comes across as a bit sulky sometimes. I just didn’t enjoy those sections at all. Dare manages to knock another one out of the park because she knows how to make me giggle and swoon. I will always pick up Dare’s novels because I know she’ll deliver the perfect historical romance to make me smile; Secret Pain and all.
