[book-info]
I had recently decided to go back to my childhood and read some of the books that I loved as a child. I waited for Christmastime before I cracked open The Best Christmas Pageant Ever by Barbara Richardson. This book was written in the ’70s but I still ended up with a glow in my heart by the end of the book.
I don’t know that there are any children out there so as the Herdmens but they sure are a rather intimidating bunch. I think that’s what makes this story work so well. We have a lot of truly awful and untamable children and by the end of the small book, they are the ones teaching their church the true meaning of Christmas.
I will say that this book is aimed for a Christian audience. If that’s not your type of story, I’d pass on this one. If you don’t mind an inspirational message around the holidays, then you may want to give this one a read.
