When Michael "Coop" Cooper gave up his Gift, he was told it'd be forever. And he accepted it. Years later, the sacrifice doesn't seem so terrible: he’s learned to survive without it, he's gained the necessary intel to begin building a Gifted army, and he found the woman he intends to claim for his own.

In the middle of their recruitment process, his Gift comes back. Unexpectedly. But rather than celebrating the impossible, Coop's carefully laid plans are about to come to naught... unless he can find a way to survive and make it right. - via GoodReads

3 Stars

The Unexpected Gift by Amanda Shofner gave us a peek at what Michael Cooper has been through and what he’s willing to go through to stop the Hunters. I really enjoyed Elusive Memories the first book in the series and I was eager to spend more time among the characters. I was not disappointed. I enjoyed finding out what it was that made Coop tick. I liked spending more time with the secondary characters. Shofner didn’t cut her characters any slack either. This wasn’t an easy process for any of them.

The Unexpected Gift had made me even more eager for Shofner’s upcoming Hidden Illusions. I’ll be getting my copy as soon as it’s released!
