Review: Once Upon a Kiss by Jayne Fresina

I have read the first two Sydney Dovedale books and enjoyed them immensely. When I saw that Once Upon a Kiss by Jayne Fresina was the first in a series called The Book Club Belles Society, I was all over it. Jayne Fresina and historical romance about girls who enjoy reading books? There was never a question! Fresina delivered.

Justina and Darius were just so much fun to watch take the plunge. I mean actual fun. I had more than one laugh out loud moment while reading Once Upon a Kiss. While I enjoyed the lighter side of the story it doesn’t mean it had no depth. Both Justina and Darius have their inner demons they struggle against. Those same demons make Justina and Darius fight off each other. The enemy to lover trope is one of my favorites and Fresina does it well.

Once Upon a Kiss sets up the rest of the series and I really enjoyed each of the girls and can’t wait to read their stories. While I try to wait patiently for the next book in the series, I’m going to go back and finish Fresina’s Sydney Dovedale series.
