Summary from Goodreads:
It’s been twelve years since Tru Bennett last saw Jake Wethers, her former best friend and boy she once loved.
Jake Wethers, sexy, tattooed and deliciously bad lead singer, and brains behind The Mighty Storm, one of the biggest bands in the world, left Tru with a broken heart when he moved from England to America with his family when they were both fourteen.
Sent to interview Jake for her music column by the magazine she works for, they are both unprepared for the sparks that fly the instant they reconnect. Only, there’s a complication to their instant feelings for one another—Will, Tru’s boyfriend of two years.
Then Jake makes Tru a job offer she can’t refuse—traveling the world with him and his band. But taking the job means leaving Will behind, and being on the road with the band means spending an inordinate amount of time with Jake.
Is Tru strong enough to resist the delectable bad boy who once held her heart so completely, or will she willingly risk it all for one night with the world’s most notorious womanizer?
TO LUMB FALLS, HOT SUMMERS, AND MISSING BIKINI TOPS
Read this one on recommendation from my BFF Lori and although I purchased it a while ago… somehow it ended up on my “Kindle to be read shelf!!!” She read it and suggested I do the same… Thanks Lori sweets… it was worth it!!
Now if you’ve ever read S.C. Stephen’s Thoughtless and Effortless then you’ll have a sort of feel for this book… yeah, you got it… it’s got a uber hot alpha male rock star, a timid music journalist, and lots of cool other people… it follows along the same plot lines, but I can assure you that this story is unique in it’s own way.
The book deals with two people (best friends) who knew each other way back when… and then they are suddenly cast together after 12 years apart because of the profession they’re in… Rock star Jake wants Music Journalist Trudy “Tru” to write his Bio. Tru agrees to go on tour with Jake and his band to write the bio, but of course she cheats on her boyfriend Will and eventually leaves him for Jake…unlike Thoughtless where Kiera can’t make up her mind between Kellan and Denny and strings them both along for most of the book… This book touched on addiction, attraction, and loss and kept me interested the whole way!!
The book read quite slow (but good) until around 60% and then things started to pick up… super great climactic ending… if this book didn’t have the ending it had I would have probably gave it 3.5 hearts… but that last 25-30% really did me in… we’re talkin’ heart aching, tear jerking, and on the edge of your seat good…
Some grammatical errors but, all in all, I liked it a lot and all the characters, the writing style, and the highs and lows it brought me to… 4.5 hearts…
