Dewey’s 24 Hour Readathon

Posted October 12th, 2013 by in Bookish Events / 14 comments

It’s time for another Dewey’s 24 Hour Readathon. I’m a little late getting started but I still have 22 hours to make up for it! πŸ™‚ My goals for this readathon are pretty simple. I’ll be working on my current reading pile so anything from it is game. I’m a little less than 100 pages away from finishing Inferno by Dan Brown so that’ll be up on the chopping block first.

I do have some errands to run this afternoon after my husband gets back from work and dinner with a few girlfriends planned but I’m thinking that isn’t going to be too long. I’ll stay up for as long as I can but I’m hopeless when it comes to staying awake even when it’s something as important as a readathon!

Introduction Meme:

  • What fine part of the world are you reading from today?
  • I certainly wouldn’t call it fine but I’m reading from Illionis, United States. The weather has been gorgeous this week though.

  • Which book in your stack are you most looking forward to?
  • I really am looking forward to all of the books in my stack but probably more than the rest would be Too Good to Be True by Kristan Higgins.

  • Which snack are you most looking forward to?
  • I have been poorly prepared for this readathon. I have no snacks on hand. πŸ™ I’ll probably end up picking up some chips though. Love those things!

  • Tell us a little something about yourself!
  • I am a list maker. I read almost every genre. The only one that I can think of that I don’t love is horror and I don’t read much inspirational fiction though I don’t refuse to. I would say I focus more on romance and young adult. I am freshly turned 29 and this is my second Dewey’s readathon. I didn’t do so hot in the first one! πŸ™‚

  • If you participated in the last read-a-thon, what’s one thing you’ll do different today? If this is your first read-a-thon, what are you most looking forward to?
  • Read like the dickens while my husband is at work this morning. That man is horribly distracting. Take breaks when I need to. Try to check in hourly. Last time I just updated all at once thinking the computer would distract me.

    Hour 1:
    Asleep. No Reading:

    Hour 2:
    Asleep/prepping for readathon.

    Hour 3:
13 pages of Inferno by Dan Brown. See the woefully unprepared up above? Had to get my reading space cleaned up so I could relax and read. πŸ™‚

    Hour 4:
18 pages of Inferno by Dan Brown. 31 pages total.

    Hour 5:
29 pages of Inferno by Dan Brown. 60 pages total. I should also point out that I’m doing some household chores while I’m reading this morning. My reading speed is not typically this low. πŸ™‚

    Hour 6:
No reading. πŸ™ But I had lunch with the hubs!

    Hour 7:
Running errands. No reading. Ready to get back to reading though.

    Hour 8:
Finished Inferno by Dan Brown. Meh. 32 pages. 92 pages total.

    Hour 9:
Taking a cleansing hour and cataloging some books. πŸ™‚

    Hour 10:
28 pages of Too Good to Be True by Kristan Higgins. 120 pages total

Yay I’m glad you are reading today! I need to find the time to catch up with you soon since I miss chatting with you!

Happy reading! Johnny and I are going to try to read a lot today but so far he has blown it off for going to the gym.

I am! Not very consistently but by God I am reading. πŸ™‚ I am feeling so good the past few weeks. It’s been a long time since I’ve been excited about reading. I hope you enjoy your reading today.

Tell Johnny the gym is so not worth it. πŸ˜‰ Reading is time much better spent. Lol.
