Summary from Goodreads:
Half-vampire Catherine Crawfield is going after the undead with a vengeance, aiming for the father who ruined her mother. Bones, a vampire bounty hunter, captures Cat, and agrees to train her until her battle reflexes are as sharp as his fangs. But a group of killers pursue them. Bones is as tempting as any man with a heartbeat.
Great start to an impressive series… I’ve read this series on paperback, but of course before my Kindle days, I never reviewed a book!!! Now… well, now… I’m slowly replacing all paperbacks with Kindle additions and putting out my reviews!!! I was especially impressed with how Bones took to Cat and how he didn’t show her any mercy while in the meeting and/or training phases! He may call her kitten, but she’s anything but!! I wouldn’t say the book deals with dark subjects, but in a round-about way, it does… you’ll see!!
Cat is and always will be in my top 5 heroines… She’s half human, half vampire and let me tell you… either way… she’s one tough kitten!!! Meow baby!!! In the beginning, she lives and breathes by the Buffy the Vampire Slayer code… but after meeting Bones, that perceptions changes ever so slightly… Now Bones on the other hand… He’s my favorite Englishman (by far)!!! “Hallo Kitten!” I love how he approaches Cat at the bar… cracked my right the eff up!!! I really loved how the rough edges on both sides clashed and clashed but good in the beginning… but as the story goes on… those rough edges seem to smooth out nicely!!! Now, as far as Cat’s Mother goes… there’s a woman I could totally beat to death and not think twice about it!!! What she thought was being a “good” mother, was sooo whacked!!! We also meet Spade in this book… looking forward to his book “First Drop of Crimson”!!
I have to say, reading this the second time around, I took my time this time… I even listened to it on Audio book, courtesy of my friend Chris L.!!! Thanks chica… I love how the narrator does Bone’s accent… uber hot!!! It was 384 pages (kindle version) and it took me about two days to read it… pretty much effortless to read as every page, every chapter kept me on the edge of my seat and kept me turning pages like they were on fire!!!
I know when I first read this book (paperback) I was literally all freaked out at the ending of it… I wouldn’t say it was a cliffhanger, but it definitely didn’t end the way I thought or wanted it to end… but onward and upward in the Bone’s and Cat saga!!! I am onto One Foot In The Grave to see what’s up next for hot, hot, hottie Mr. Crispin and beautiful Catherine Crawfield!!!
