Summary from Goodreads:
From the moment I first met Gideon Cross, I recognized something in him that I needed. Something I couldn’t resist. I saw the dangerous and damaged soul inside–so much like my own. I was drawn to it. I needed him as surely as I needed my heart to beat.
No one knows how much he risked for me. How much I’d been threatened, or just how dark and desperate the shadow of our pasts would become.
Entwined by our secrets, we tried to defy the odds. We made our own rules and surrendered completely to the exquisite power of possession…
I have liked this series from the first book. While I always did like the series I also always felt that it could give a little more. It is one thing to like a book and another to be completely in love with the story and characters. I wanted to fall in love this time.
I feel that this is an amazing addition to the series because Eva and Gideon finally get to work through everything that they went through in the first two books. The first two books were so busy with things from their past coming back to haunt them that they never had time to really be together in the way that they needed. I really loved this story because I was able to see Eva and Gideon get closer, love harder, and fight for each other in a way that was even more powerful than the first two books. I loved reading about the softer sides to their relationship and I really liked all of the work that Gideon put into having Eva back. He was out to show more of himself in this book, to let Eva have him mind, body, and soul and I loved that. He really grew into a character that wasn’t just another alpha male but one who had a sweet side as well. I loved the contrast with his powerful side and his loving side. I feel that men should have both of those sides so I have to say I now officially love the character Gideon has become over the course of this series.
“I look at you, angel, and I want you so badly. I want to be with you, listen to you, talk to you. I want to hear you laugh and hold you when you cry. I want to sit next to you, breathe the same air, share the same life. I want to wake up to you like this every day forever. I want you.”
I still like Eva’s character as well. She has gone through some rough spots in this series and she has grown because of them. Sure she might run to Gideon sometimes a little too much but he is her rock so I get it. I can’t wait to see how she grows even more in the next few books in this series. Now that she has her man I want to see her find her own way in life and make some choices that will free her of some of the people who have bound her.
Overall, this is the best in the series to date. I can’t wait to see what happens in future books.
