club shadowlandsTitle: Club Shadowlands
Author: Cherise Sinclair
Publisher: Loose Id
Publication Date: Jan 2009
Classification: Adult Erotica Novel
Content: Erotic Games and Sexual Play

Summary from Goodreads:

Her car disabled during a tropical storm, Jessica Randall discovers the isolated house where she’s sheltering is a private bondage club. At first shocked, she soon becomes aroused watching the interactions between the Doms and their subs. But she’s a professional woman–an accountant–and surely isn’t a submissive…is she?

Master Z hasn’t been so attracted to a woman in years. But the little sub who has wandered into his club intrigues him. She’s intelligent. Reserved. Conservative. After he discovers her interest in BDSM, he can’t resist tying her up and unleashing the passion she hides within.

My Thoughts:

I have heard so many good things about this book and this series that I bought it a long time ago and then proceeded to put off reading it for a long time. I was looking for a quick and erotic read and I decided that it was time to dive into club shadowlands.

I have to say right off the bat I did like where the book was going. What girl wouldn’t want to stumble into a fancy mansion that seemed to have many people having an exciting party. Little does the main character, Jessica, know that this place is a club for those who like their sexual play with an edge to it and she might just be in for more than she bargained for. I have to say that I’m a little tired of the storyline where the woman is clueless about the lifestyle and stumbles into it from meeting one man but I let that go while reading this book. I have to say I did like Jessica because she was a strong woman who was logical, smart, and not a size zero. She might not have realized she wanted what the club had to offer at first but I liked that she found ways to open to the experience.

I also have to say I really liked Master Z. From the summary it sounded like Master Z was going to be a stubborn Dom who wanted nothing to do with women other than offering them pleasure for one night. He was so much more than that and he really wanted to make sure that his Subs got the experience they needed when they were with him. Even if some things didn’t appeal to Master Z he was willing to try them because his Sub would be turned on by them. I also loved that he wanted to cuddle Jessica after all of her experiences in the club and he was there not to really demand she submit but to be her guide into the lifestyle. He was certainly a Dom but one who also could keep things more relaxed and calm and I like that he was a more subdued Dom.

Overall, I did like the characters and I did really enjoy reading about the club but I did feel the plot was lacking a bit. Due to the fact that his book is only 150ish pages there was not a whole lot that could be explored in way of plot because of this and I just wish the book had been a little longer so I could have spent more time with them and they could have formed a real relationship outside of the club.

Awww Master Z. Yeah that is one sexy Dom. I’d so do some very bad things for him. lol The last few in the series have had amazing secondary storylines which was kinda nice to see added in instead of it being so club focused. If you keep reading them you get a bit of Z and Jessica in the other books as well so you can see how their relationship develops 🙂 I always love that. Glad you enjoyed your first bit of the Shadowlands 🙂
