Peach Pies and Alibis by Ellery Adams is the second book in The Charmed Pie Shoppe cozy mystery series. I have to say that this book was without a doubt fantastic! I LOVED this book. It kept me up late two nights in a row. I finished it at 1:30 in the morning.

We get to spend more time in Havenwood, Georgia which is always going to be a great experience. Adams has created such a great environment in Havenwood that I can tell after only two books that it’s going to be a community that I want to return to again and again. Ella Mae is really stepping into her own as the proprietor of The Charmed Pie Shoppe. After all that Ella Mae when through in Pies and Prejudice it’s nice to see things going well for her.

We as the readers also get to learn about Ella Mae’s heritage as she does. I liked that we get to be immersed into this world not like a wild cannonball into Ella Mae’s favorite pool but rather as a cool, slow immersion into a relaxing world starting first with a toe and working our way in. That doesn’t mean that this book was dull. Far from it, Peach Pies and Alibis is action packed and non-stop from page one. I have come to care so much for these characters that when we finally made it to the Harvest, I was enchanted and devastated.

There are so many reasons that I cannot wait for book number three: great characters, a great setting, a great story, and I have got to know what is up between Hugh and Ella Mae!
