Crime Scene at Cardwell Ranch by BJ Daniels is one of those books that I picked up because it was free and my journey into the romance genre started with category romances. It was mostly nostalgia that made me pick up this book. I have to say that I didn’t go into it with high expectations. I put this book on my August TBR pile because I wanted to finally get it read. It felt more like a chore than something to look forward to. I was served up a nice slice of humble pie.
This book was only 250 pages long but it had so much to offer! There was family drama galore, a mystery of bones, a night five years in the past where nobody’s story seems to align with anyone else’s, romance, a great big dollop of suspense, and a little bit of a cliffhanger ending. I had a very hard time putting this book down. It was great story and I have to say that I am really looking forward to reading the next book in the series. In fact I may even go back and pick up more of Daniels’s books because I enjoyed this book so much!
