Stephanie Reviews Legacy of the Clockwork Key by Kristin Bailey

Legacy of the Clockwork Key by Kristin Bailey

Legacy of the Clockwork Key by Kristin bailey is a young adult steampunk novel. It is set in London and the first of Bailey’s The Secret Order series.

Meg is not my favorite character of all time. there’s nothing specifically wrong with her. I just didn’t lover her and that’s okay. I find when I’m reading I don’t have to be over the moon in love with the characters to be invested in the story. (It helps immensely of course!) While the characters didn’t do it for me completely, I have to say the story grabbed me from page one. I had to know what the heck was up with Meg’s employer. Why did they purposefully have to act like every day was the same? What was up with that?

As the story progressed, I stayed that much more invested in it. Bailey sets up a treasure map of sorts and it was so much fun to watch it all unfold! I do want to add that it does take a bit of time to set up but once it did it was a non stop action, edge of your seat kind of read. Fans of young and steampunk alike may want to give this one a go!

  1. I enjoyed this book too, and I feel you on not having strong feelings about Meg on way or the other. The clockwork items were the most fun.

    1. Yes! I loved the clockwork amusements and the mystery more than I liked the characters but I’m okay with that. 🙂
