Let’s Talk Friday is a weekly meme hosted by Smash @ Smash Attack Reads and Kt @ A Book Obsession. It was inspired by Melissa @ i swim for oceans. Each week a question is posed and participants discuss their thoughts and feelings. For a list of upcoming questions, check out Smash’s blog!
This week’s question:
Do you need romance in your books to read them? If not, what else “hooks” you?
I don’t have to have romance in my books but it certainly almost always helps! If the romance isn’t well done then I’d almost rather the author left it out. I am a very eclectic reader so almost anything will pull me in. I’m currently reading As Always, Julia by Joan Reardon and while it is incredibly slow paced, I’m enjoying it. I read romance of all types, mysteries, young adult, thrillers, and occasionally I dabble in non-fiction if the mood is right.
How about you? Do you have to have a little somethin’-somethin’ between your characters or does romance detract from a story for you? I’m dying to hear your thoughts! 🙂
