Summary from Goodreads:

An ambitious intern.
A perfectionist executive.
And a whole lot of name calling.

Whip-smart, hardworking, and on her way to an MBA, Chloe Mills has only one problem: her boss, Bennett Ryan. He’s exacting, blunt, inconsiderate—and completely irresistible. A Beautiful Bastard.

Bennett has returned to Chicago from France to take a vital role in his family’s massive media business. He never expected that the assistant who’d been helping him from abroad was the gorgeous, innocently provocative—completely infuriating—creature he now has to see every day. Despite the rumors, he’s never been one for a workplace hookup. But Chloe’s so tempting he’s willing to bend the rules—or outright smash them—if it means he can have her. All over the office.

As their appetites for one another increase to a breaking point, Bennett and Chloe must decide exactly what they’re willing to lose in order to win each other.

My Thoughts:

Before starting this book I had heard so many different opinions on it that I wasn’t sure what to think anymore. I do know that I have been wanting to read more adult reads lately so I decided to just dive into this one with an open mind.

The thing that I liked instantly about this book was the fact that the heroine, Chloe Mills, was feisty, strong willed, a hard worker, and sarcastic! It seems lately when I do read romance books the heroine is just a weak woman who has very little spine in order to let her dominant man push her around. I’m all for a good dominating romance but the woman needs to have a spine and stand up for herself and I’m so happy that the authors of this book decided to give Chloe some balls. I have to say I did like Bennett Ryan from the start as well because I feel like he was open to telling his side of the story and I loved learning about him and his emotions. He was more than just a strong man, he had a lot to offer in both the looks department and the emotional department…the best of both in my opinion!

“If only he would keep his mouth shut, he’d be perfect. A piece of duct tape would do the trick. I had some in my desk that I’d occasionally pull out and fondle, hoping someday I could put it to good use.”

The thing that was so great about the story was the fact that both Chloe and Bennett got to tell their sides of the story. Most of the time I’m not into multiple point of views in a story but I really enjoyed hearing both sides of the romance. I will warn you that this romance is a little odd though since the main characters didn’t want to fall in love for a great deal of the book. They were constantly about to start fighting and they really didn’t get along for a great part of the story. The steamy scenes between these two were hot hot hot though and make up for some of the missing connection with the characters during the beginning part of the story. The scenes had the right amount of heat for an reader whether erotica is more your taste or something a little lighter is on your mind. The big thing is the fact that Bennett always tears off her panties and collects them throughout the story, I know many found this odd and repetitive but I just thought it was how Bennett was and I found it to be their special thing. The only thing that bothered me about the story was the fact that at one point the chapters felt like a formula. The two of them would be around one another, argue, or make a few remarks and then end up having sex by the end of each chapter. This felt a little repetitive and I would have personally enjoyed some scene changes and some chapters that didn’t all end the same way.

“Of course I remember that. You sounded like a frat boy and looked like a fucking model. What man could ever forget that?”
“I would have given anything to know what you were thinking right then.”
“I was thinking, ‘Highly fuckable intern, twelve o’clock. Disengage, soldier. I repeat, disengae.”

Overall, there were a few flaws to this story but I found myself unable to put down the book and breezed through the story in just two days. I can’t wait to watch these authors grow and maybe step out of the formula path they were on for most of the chapters.

Glad this one worked for you. I wasn’t a fan of it. Seriously, you would think the girl would just stop wearing panties…lol

Chloe sounds like a great character! I also like that its from the POV of both of them. I think the formulaic chapters would get to me though. Repetitiveness with romances drives me nuts.
