My Thoughts

If you are looking for a feel good historical read, look no further then Grace Burrowes. The Bridegroom Wore Plaid by Grace Burrowes is a great romp. through Scotland where a young woman is marrying a titled man so he can use her dowry to shore up his family holding. The only problem is that the bride to be can’t stand her future husband. The young woman in question, Eugenia Daniels, is not interested at all in arranged marriage. Her father has brought along two female relatives as chaperones. Augusta Merrick’s life fell apart when she lost her parents at a time when she needed them most.

Unfortunately, Ian and August find, in each other, their other half. If only Augusta were an heiress and not a penniless spinster! They are both very aware that there can never be a future that includes a happily ever after together. Ian and Augusta decide to take their pleasure where they may and enjoy the time they have before Ian shackles himself to a woman and an un-happily ever after!

I’m going to be brutally honest here: this book is total fluff and I loved every page of it! I knew who the bad guy is (it was no secret) and the why and the how. Normally this would kill a book for me but Grace Burrowes can write a romance. I so wanted Ian and Augusta to get the ending they deserved that I didn’t much care about anything else. I adore the characters that Grace Burrowes writes which is totally what made this book work for me.
