Still On My Mind [6]

Still on my Mind was created and is hosted by Haley at YA-Aholic.The purpose of this meme is to share a book you read months or even years ago that is still on my (your) mind every Thursday.

The Book Still on My Mind this week is…

A Series Of Unfortunate Events by Lemony Snicket

Goodreads Summary:

Dear Reader,
I’m sorry to say that the book you are holding in your hands is extremely unpleasant. It tells an unhappy tale about three very unlucky children. Even though they are charming and clever, the Baudelaire siblings lead lives filled with misery and woe. From the very first page of this book when the children are at the beach and receive terrible news, continuing on through the entire story, disaster lurks at their heels. One might say they are magnets for misfortune.

In this short book alone, the three youngsters encounter a greedy and repulsive villain, itchy clothing, a disastrous fire, a plot to steal their fortune, and cold porridge for breakfast.

It is my sad duty to write down these unpleasant tales, but there is nothing stopping you from putting this book down at once and reading something happy, if you prefer that sort of thing.

With all due respect,
Lemony Snicket

Why It Is Still On My Mind

I started reading these so long ago. I mean back when I was still in elementary school. I might have read one or two into middle school but it has been a really long time since I have read any of them. I have only read 7 books in the series and there are a totally 13 so of course it is still on my mind. I would really like to know how it ends for the three children. From what I remember those poor kids run into trouble wherever they end up. It has been so long so a vaguely remember each story that I have read but i remember they were always fun stories to read full of adventure. I am not sure if I should read the first seven again just to remember everything but I really do want to finish the series some day.

I have always meant to go back and read more of this series. I vaguely remember reading a couple of them during elementary school too and I definitely want to go back and read them all.

I just slowly stopped reading them and then stopped altogether. Hope we can both get back to reading them again some time lol

I have never really seen many people talk about it. If you get a chance to start reading them let me know what you think.

This series always seemed interesting to me, especially after the movie came out, but I never got around to reading it. They were really popular about the time I was in high school, so at that point I felt they were a little too young for me. It’s kind of funny though, because here I am now as an adult reading YA. Go figure lol.
