Synopsis: Embrace the Forbidden
What if there were teens whose lives literally depended on being bad influences?
This is the reality for sons and daughters of fallen angels.
Tenderhearted Southern girl Anna Whitt was born with the sixth sense to see and feel emotions of other people. She’s aware of a struggle within herself, an inexplicable pull toward danger, but Anna, the ultimate good girl, has always had the advantage of her angel side to balance the darkness within. It isn’t until she turns sixteen and meets the alluring Kaidan Rowe that she discovers her terrifying heritage and her willpower is put to the test. He’s the boy your daddy warned you about. If only someone had warned Anna.
Forced to face her destiny, will Anna embrace her halo or her horns?
What I Liked: The first half of the book. Wait you need more than that?!
Honestly, the beginning of this story provides such great characters and plot that it was very easy to be sucked into the story and stay up late at night reading this one. I really loved Anna and Kaiden in the first half of this story because they are such interesting characters. Plus Kaiden is our classic bad boy who does have a deeper side to him if you watch closely for it. He is certainly like a male tortured hero from adult romance but placed in a teen romance book!
I also loved that while this story is about angels and demons that it felt really unique since our main group of characters have demon fathers who are a Duke of a particular sin. Kaiden’s father for example is the Duke of Lust, right!
What I Could Have Lived Without: The second half of this book…yes I know, I know you need more. The second half of this book really left a sour taste in my mouth for a few reasons. I just really didn’t like that our adventure with Kaiden and Anna ended and that Anna became a walking wreck from this point on in the story. She basically never started to live again and it really bothered me. I know this is teenage love stories but seriously you do not have the right to mope about for half a book! I also didn’t like that Kaiden seemed so different and far away. Plus I have one name that I just have to throw out there…Kope! What on earth was up with that guy! He jumps into the storyline and all of a sudden Anna is suppose to feel something for a guy that is barely even involved in our main plot line…so not buying that one!
Recommended For: Paranormal YA fans who are looking for a great twist on angel/demon lore.
Avoid If: If you have issues with a story that takes a while to get somewhere. At 450 pages this is not a story to take lightly because the reader will learn very little in this book since it really is a book to introduce you to this world that the entire series will take place in.
*In Alexa’s World this book would be a 3.5 but I’m doing 3 because it fits with Stephanie’s rating system*
