Title: Between
Author: Cyndi Tefft
Publisher: Createspace
Publication Date:ย April 2011
Classification:ย YAย Novel
Challenge: None

Summary from Goodreads:

It just figures that the love of Lindsey Water’s life isn’t alive at all, but the grim reaper, complete with a dimpled smile and Scottish accent.

After transporting souls to heaven for the last 300 years, Aiden MacRae has all but given up on finding the one whose love will redeem him and allow him entry through the pearly gates.

Torn between her growing attraction to Aiden and heaven’s siren song, Lindsey must learn the hard way whether love really can transcend all boundaries.

My Thoughts:

I was so excited to dive into this story because I had heard so many great things from bloggers that I love and trust. Plus everyone brags on Twitter how much they just love Aiden to pieces! So naturally I can not resist a hot man in plaid so this was instantly a book I knew I needed to read.

Upon getting into this story I really didn’t know what the story was even about I just was going on all the great reviews alone. So I was shocked that within the first few pages we already have our main character dying and going to the between place between heaven and hell. I guess logically I should have seen this because of the title of this book but call me blonde!

So we are introduced to Aiden right off the bat because he has to help Lindsey until she is able to go to heaven. Lindsey doesn’t want to believe she is really dead but she figures she has no choice but to move forward, plus Aiden is certainly easy on the eyes. I really enjoyed the between area because the characters were just able to bring up a vision or memory of an area and were able to bring that to the setting that they were in, like replaying a movie but being in it. Oh gosh it is hard to explain but if you read the book you will get what I mean. About the only thing I didn’t like about this time Lindsey spent with Aiden was that she fell for him way too fast, this story certainly has instant love in it. There is so much more to the story than just this time that Lindsey spends with Aiden in the between but I don’t want to ruin anything for you.

Overall, this story was a good read because I couldn’t resist liking Lindsey and Aiden. My enjoyment of this book was slightly clouded by the fact that these two fell in love with each other when they barely knew each other. It is always hard to believe that they have this all consuming love when they barely know each other but this is just a personal pet peeve of mine. Another person pet peeve, is that this book did have quite a bit of religion included in it. I’m not a fan of this in books and it did take me almost the entire book to let this element stop bugging me. I guess I didn’t expect this story to be so religious so it just threw me for a loop. At the end of the book though I started to get past some of my personal pet peeves and I would give this story 4 hearts for a good storyline with great characters.

It’s too bad that they fall for each other too fast though. I hate when that occurs in books.
Thanks for the awesome review, Alexa ๐Ÿ˜€

I have this one on my kindle, I just haven’t found time to read it yet. The insta love is the only thing I’m really worried about, but hopefully I’ll be able to look past that.

I’ve been having issues connecting with couples in books because of the whole instant love thing lately. A lot of books seem to be like that. Sometimes it doesn’t bother me and it works but other times I am like “ugh I can’t even take you seriously”. Glad you still enjoyed the book regardless. Great review ๐Ÿ™‚

I’m glad you enjoyed this book! =) I kinda liked that they fell in love so quickly the fact that it was so unrealistic made me love it even more I don’t know why lol. I loved it back when I read it so I can’t wait to grab the next book!

It sounds like this one has 2 of my biggest pet peeves in it. I’m absolutely against insta-love and religion just isn’t my thing. I’ll probably hold back on trying to read this one.
