Her Christmas Pleasure by Karen Erickson
December ‘On the Shelves’ Pick!
Description from Carina Press:
Damien Morton is madly in love. Unfortunately, it’s with his best friend’s widow, Lady Danver. Damien is not worthy of Celia. Or so he thinks. Desperate to escape his feelings for her, he plans to leave the country at the first of the year. Celia treats him as a family friend and nothing more—until they share a heated kiss beneath the mistletoe…
Celia is shocked by the passions that surge within her at her dear friend’s kiss. One touch and one taste aren’t enough to satisfy her cravings, and she is startled into action. Damien has stirred something inside her that she never expected to experience again, and she must have more. Full of shameless desire and emotions newly discovered, she decides to pursue Damien and won’t be deterred. Will she be able to convince him to stay—both in her heart and life—forever?
‘Simply magical’ is an apt phrase to describe the beauty found within Karen Erickson’s novella Her Christmas Pleasure. One of the things I love best about this novella is how quickly you become immersed in the lives and feelings of these characters. You don’t get much time to become acquainted with these characters, but the beautiful thing about that is you don’t need to. Erickson magically takes the characters straight to your heart and quickly engages you in their romance. Celia and Damien are truly stunning characters that are completely enamored with one another yet reluctant to let their feelings be known. Their unrequited love is simply touching and exciting to read about.
Yet it only remains that way for so long…from the first kiss to the last, Celia and Damien share a captivating passion. Erickson has a great talent for not only creating a novella that is sexy, but eloquently expresses the emotional side of love as well. You care about these characters just as much as if you had read 200 plus pages of a novel, which is a rare treat indeed. It’s hard to express how much I enjoyed this short tale and wished for it to go on longer.
Her Christmas Pleasure while it is short, is filled with striking emotion and vivid passion. Reading it will give you a brief escape into a fascinating story and possibly introduce you to a talented author as it did for me. Delightful, enchanting and sinfully wicked this is a story you should not pass up! It has everything a reader could possibly want and then some.
