Random Ramblings is a post that allows us to talk about something, really anything, that we feel is worthy of attention. It could be a movie we’ve seen recently, a current song/band that’s rocking our world or something book related that doesn’t quite fit anywhere else on the site.

My T.V. Obsession Part II: Modern Family

Last month I wrote about Doctor Who and this month I’m going in a completely different direction and talking about another one of my favorite shows: Modern Family.

Anyone who has seen this show before knows it is beyond hilarious! It has such an amazing cast of characters who bring their own brand of funny to the mix. Whether it’s Gloria’s feisty personality, Phil’s comical goof-ups, Cam’s over the top attitude…I love it all. The couples are such exact opposites, yet so perfect and precious together. The kids crack me up as well. Manny, for instance and his ‘old soul’ makes for humorous situations, especially when he can act as mature and intelligent as any adult in the room. It’s rare to find a ‘laugh out loud’ comedy show on T.V. anymore, but Modern Family is certainly that kind of show.

Still, there’s certainly more behind it’s funny exterior. Perhaps what makes the show perfect is how it wraps up each episode. They may fight and yell for most of the show, but at the end, they take a minute to show us why they are a strong family. They may be modern, but they love each other just as fiercely as any other family. I just adore this show!

Do watch Modern Family? Do you have a favorite family member?

The writing is clever; there are a lot of dialogue choices you can tell are well-crafted, which illict the chuckle and slow-build-up laugh. I frequently find myself having to rewind the DVR to catch what I missed because I'm laughing. And I DETEST most other comedies on the air right now w/ the exception of NBC's Community & 30Rock.
