Ravished By A Highlander by Paula Quinn
Ravished By A Highlander is a stunning and emotional romance from Paula Quinn. Get ready to read about the highlander who has got it goin’ on and the stunning lady that captured his heart.
Davina Montgomery has been locked away in a convent for her whole life…and with good reason. At the moment, her identity is England’s biggest secret and she must be protected at all costs. So when the convent is viciously attached by the enemy, the last place Davina expects to be is in the arms of a dashing Scottish laird, Robert MacGregor. Yet he saved her life and without knowing her importance, vows to protect her at all costs. If only he wasn’t so kind or devastatingly handsome. Then Davina might be able to focus on saving her life, rather than the dazzling passion she shares with him…
Much to Robert’s dismay, he’s growing quiet attached to the young lady. He knows any future with the lady is impossible, yet he still cannot resist her. As he and his men escort Davina to safety, he realizes without a doubt, he cannot and will not let her go. Protecting her may endanger his home and his entire clan, but at this point, Robert refuses to live without her.
Prepare yourself for Robert MacGregor…perhaps one of the sexiest alpha heroes ever. I just adore his possessive attraction to Davina. Imagine the hero who takes on an entire army single handedly to protect the woman he loves and you will be picturing Robert. He is strong, resilient and so dangerously sexy he makes the pages smolder. For the most part he is a compassionate man, but when it comes to the woman who holds his heart? Well, just don’t get on his bad side.
I adored Davina as well. She is cunning, intelligent and selfless. Her secret endangers everyone around her, so she tries desperately to put stranger’s lives before her own. I admire her compassion and love her feistiness! Her character easily developed the most in this book. After meeting Robert, you see this sheltered girl coming out of her shell. Robert allows her to feel safe, for the first time in her life, and it gives her an alluring sense of freedom.
The secondary characters were wonderful as well! Most provided the humor, but some were developed more than others as possible leads for other novels. I was amazed at how little she touched on some of these characters, yet how invested I became in their well being. I wanted desperately to know more about them because Quinn paints them so brilliantly, you just can’t help but care about them.
I have a basic knowledge of England’s history and I will be the first to admit, the historical background was a little difficult to follow at first. For me, it was just simply a lot to take in because there is so much going on! So you rely on the satisfying dashes of romance to keep you intrigued in the first half and by the second half of the novel, all the pieces are in order and the read follows along smoothly. This tale is simply gripping, passionate and all around alluring. Once you start it, you just cannot put it down!
This love is about as impossible as they come and that was part of the main reason, other than the characters, I loved it so much. These two must overcome such impossible forces to be together, and it is just breathtaking to read. Davina and Robert are the couple you will remember long after the book is finished because they become so important to you, it’s impossible to let them go. Quinn is a fantastic talent creating brilliant characters and a vivid historical time period. She knows just how to make readers laugh, enchant their interest and steal their hearts. She is a fine author and a rare talent indeed. Don’t let Ravished By A Highlander sit in your ‘to be read’ pile or on your wish list. Read it and be prepared to be overcome with emotion…or rather, get ready to be ravished!
