random ramblings
Random Ramblings is a post that allows Lisa and I to talk about something, really anything, that we feel is worthy of attention. It could be a movie we’ve seen recently, a current song/band that’s rocking our world or something book related that doesn’t quite fit anywhere else on the site.

Christmas Movies
Christmas movies have always been a part of Christmas in my family. Growing up, it just wasn’t Christmas without having seen the classics like How the Grinch Stole Christmas, Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer, and Frosty. Unfortunately, we also watched The Christmas Story. Yeah, I know, I know. The Christmas Story is a classic! I think it’s an hour and a half of agony. 🙂
Needless to say, since I’ve married and moved into my own home, I know control the TV and I still love Christmas movies. Among my favorite are Elf, How the Grinch Stole Christmas (both classic and Jim Carey versions), Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer, and a new favorite: The Family Stone. For those of you who haven’t seen Elf, here’s a 7 minute clip of some of the funniest moments:

I’m not typically a Will Farrell fan but in Elf he is absolutely hilarious! If you haven’t seen this movie, you really should give it a try. You’ll be holding your sides by the end!

I wanted to include a clip from The Family Stone but the ones that I have found seemed to give too much of the movie away. I went into watching this movie under the impression that it was a light romantic comedy. I could not have been more wrong. It is a fairly deep movie that examines the family dynamic and deals with loss and someone who desperately wants to fit in but always comes off as being too different. It really made me stop and remember what all this chaos is really about. There were times where I was in tears and laughing at the same time. There’s also an all star cast. If you are into meaningful Christmas movies don’t miss this one but be aware! You will need Kleenex!

So how about you and your families? What Christmas movies do you watch every year? Have you found new classics?
