“Author Spotlight” is one of the new spots we are adding to the blog. This section is a chance for us to give you a little more info on some our favorite authors. Maybe you’ve heard of them before but you’ll find a title you may have missed or maybe you’ll discover a new author to try!

The author I am highlighting this month is Sherrilyn Kenyon. Sherrilyn writes paranormal romance novels and some historical under the name Kinley MacGregor. She currently has over 40 titles published! Go Sherrilyn! Her most popular series, and my favorite, is the Dark-Hunter series which features the most incredible cast of characters! Her leading men are so charming and sexy, they’ll make you sigh in delight!

Her stories are simply amazing. These books are about sacrifice, justice, love and hope. It’s about believing in a happily ever after even when you think all hope is lost. Never give up and always follow where your heart leads you. And of course, the books have all of the paranormal weirdness you can handle! The series will have you hooked immediately! Paranormal romance and Kenyon are like two peas in a pod! You can’t go wrong!

With a tortured past as a Roman slave, he has done his best to make it impossible to love him and difficult enough that no one wants to stay around him for too long. He doesn’t want a friend, he doesn’t want a family and he certainly doesn’t want a certain distraction know as Astrid getting in his way. But unfortunately, Astrid has a job to do. It is up to her to determine whether or not Zarek should be eliminated because of his recent actions. Astrid is not one to be lenient with her job, but Zarek may be one charge that is more than she can handle. Eventually, Zarek begins to see Astrid as the savior he never deserved and she sees him as the lost soul who has claimed her heart.

I’ll say this once and I’m sure I’ll say it again and again and again: I LOVE a tortured hero. For me, they are absolutely the most wonderful heroes to have in romance novels. Of course, Zarek is the poster boy for tortured heroes. He wears this rough and mean exterior, but on the inside he is battling horrible demons. He hates everyone and displays that hatred easily, but worst of all, he hates himself. His past as a slave has convinced him he is past the point of redemption and Astrid becomes the sweet temptation he knows he can never have. Still, every part of him wishes he could have her…to spend forever with the woman who has touched his life with brightness and happiness. Astrid is the beauty that can claim this beast. She will risk her honor and respect that her job demands to love Zarek. She knows she can succeed, because Astrid is the first person in 900 years to know that Zarek can be saved. She will convince him he’s worth loving, because she won’t accept no for an answer. This books pack an emotional punch. Zarek’s story will tear at your heartstrings and maybe cause a tear or two. You will love him because his will is strong. He is strong and passionate man and certainly worth saving. As with all of Kenyon’s stories, theirs is an impossible love, but it couldn’t be more perfect.

She reached her hand up to touch his cheeks. “Prince Charming has dimples.”

He stopped smiling instantly and looked away.

She turned his head back towards her. “Don’t stop smiling Zarek. I like this side of you.”

His eyes flared angrily. “Meaning you don’t like the other side of me?”

She made a disgusted sound at him. “You are so surly…after today, haven’t you realized I’m rather fond of all sides of you? Even though some are more pickly than the others.” She ran her hand over his whisker-covered cheek to emphasize the point.

He relaxed a degree. “I shouldn’t be with you.”

“And I shouldn’t be with you. Yet here we are and I am very happy about it…”

He looked at her as if he couldn’t believe she was real, and in his mind she wasn’t. She was only a dream…”Tell me of a happy memory, Zarek. One thing in your life that was good.”

He hesitated for so long that she didn’t think he would answer. When he spoke, his voice was so soft that it made her ache. “You.”

I've only made it up to Acheron's book from the Dark Hunters series. Those books are a fun escape. Zarek is one of my favorites as well! I also pretty fond of Valerius.

It's my favorite too, and next on my list is Unleash the Night along with Seize the Night. I've reread these countless times.
